A Chicago teenager has lost vision in one eye after a gang of armed hooligans fired a paintball gun at her on Halloween night.
Vicky Murillo, 19, and her friend were walking through the Clearing West community when they were maliciously targeted with the ‘high-pressured’ weapon.
‘They were both on the floor, crying and screaming, their hot chocolate next to them on the floor,’ Adrean Murillo, Vicky’s older brother, told ABC 7 Chicago.
The teens were followed around the block by a random car before it made a U-turn and approached them at closer range – all while Vicky was just steps away from the safety of her Southwest Side home.
That’s when the crew of miscreants allegedly stuck their phones out the car window and began filming before unleashing a barrage of paintballs at the two women – one of the shots hitting Vicky’s face and piercing her eye.
A Chicago teen, Vicky Murillo, 19, and her friend, became the victims of a ‘malicious’ paintball attack that left them both bloodied and severely hurt on Halloween night
Vicky was shot multiple times – including once in her face – that pierced through her left eye and left her blind
‘It was malicious. They knew what they were doing,’ Adrean told CBS News. ‘I mean, they went out that day specifically for that reason.’
The attack left both the women severely hurt and bleeding on the ground before paramedics arrived and rushed them to the hospital.
Vicky was shot twice in the body and once in the face, leaving a long-lasting impact to her eye, CBS News reported.
‘She had emergency surgery because she had an eye globe rupture,’ Adrean added. ‘At the moment, she doesn’t have any vision.’
Although the 19-year-old teen has several surgeries scheduled for her injuries, her family said that doctors do not believe that she will regain vision back in her left eye, ABC News reported.
‘Unfortunately, it’s very likely, and if there’s any vision restored to that eye, it’s going to be extremely blurry,’ Adrean told the outlet.
Vicky’s family is left frustrated over the senseless crime in their own neighborhood that left their loved one with irreversible damage – but the attack wasn’t isolated.
Vicky’s brother said: ‘That was crazy to me, because they were wearing pink, fluffy things. I don’t know who would target young women like that’

Videos shared online captured the alleged suspects terrorizing the streets in dozens of neighborhoods around Chicago – leaning out the window and firing multiple rounds of shots at unsuspecting victims.
In one clip obtained by CBS Chicago, an unknown shooter unleashed multiple rounds at a person waiting at a bus stop.
The victim was then seen frantically attempting to dodge the high-powered shots.
Several neighbor’s also came forward claiming that they were also shot by paintballs on the same fateful holiday night, ABC News reported.
‘That was crazy to me, because they were wearing pink, fluffy things,’ Adrean added. ‘I don’t know who would target young women like that.’
The family was also told that two other people were involved in similar incidents around the city that night as well, the New York Post reported.

But after Adrean posted online about his sister’s attack, he discovered that the suspects behind the paintball shootout were keeping themselves busy in the days prior to Halloween night, CBS News reported.
‘It’s the same car, same color, same everything,’ he told the outlet. ‘That means this individual has been in the area for some time now.’
He quickly learned that the attacks were spilling over to nearby suburbs too – and weren’t just confined to their own neighborhood.
‘I got reached out by a detective in Cicero, and I got reached out to by the police department in North Riverside, and both of them said that, “Hey, we’re going to loop in your case with ours – same vehicle same color,”‘ he added.
Adrean hopes that working with detectives will lead to heavy charges being imposed on the suspects responsible for his sister’s devastating attack.
Vicky’s older brother, Adrean Murillo, started working with detectives to locate the suspects after he discovered that they were targeting nearby suburbs in the days leading up to Halloween
‘We want it charged as high as we can get it, because if not, it’s going to be a slap on the wrist,’ he said. ‘It’s really bad what they did to her.’
Yet, that night forever changed Vicky’s life.
Adrean has since set up a GoFundMe page for his little sister to help with medical expenses and time off for the family so they could stay with their loved one in the hospital.
It is still unknown how many procedures she has lined up in her near future, but her next operation is on Friday.
The outcome of her surgeries are now a ‘wait-and-see’ game but her family is ‘trying to stay as optimistic’ as they can.
